In 1958, Burt Holmes and Chester Cadieux opened Quik-Trip as a “drive-in” or “bantam” grocery store. This was a small-scale store, where people could grab a small number of groceries that didn’t require a trip to the larger stores in town.
In the early days, the employees at the first handful of stores wore a white shirt, slacks and aprons, occasionally also sporting a derby hat. QuikTrip’s first mascot, Mr. Quikie, was seen on signs, building walls and in early advertising for the company.
This collection, in collaboration with local creative Taylor Mae, is an ode to the time at QT before gasoline canopies donned the parking lots.
Taylor has been a photographer for QuikTripShop.com since its inception in 2022. As the owner and curator of SOBO, a vintage clothing store in Tulsa, Taylor was uniquely qualified to help design and style these pieces for QT.

“Reintroducing vintage styles and designs serves as a means of preserving history and creativity,” Taylor said. “Embracing timeless originality and reintroducing classic logos, styles, and color schemes not only upholds a rich legacy but also contributes to its ongoing evolution.”
After working for SOBO for 3 years, Taylor and her husband Isaac became full-time shop owners in 2022.
“Each vintage design has a story to tell, and through this carefully curated collection, my goal was to share these narratives with QuikTrip’s valued customers,” Taylor said. “Whether it sparks cherished memories from the past or enlightens people about QuikTrip's heritage, this collection will build a deep and meaningful connection with its audience.”
